Truck driver jobs at entrance level will pay around $35,000 per year. This is not bad considering that one can enter the workforce and make this kind of money as an inexperienced truck driver. The more endorsements you have along with the more experience you get the higher your rate of pay is going to be. Second year truck drivers can expect to earn well over $40,000. This figure does not include bonuses, and other benefits which will vary with each employer.

Many owner-operators are husband and wife teams as this partnership works well on long-distance routes. They both take it in turns driving, and while one drives the other sleeps in the sleeper cab.
